The Principles and Practices of Mind-Body Therapies for Managing Stress and Creating Greater Health
In the past two decades, research reports that the levels of stress in every demographic age group in our society have significantly increased. Stress related problems and illnesses are now the primary reason why individuals are absent from work and visit their primary care physician. Understanding and learning how to manage stress are the most frequent recommendations given by medical experts for improving one's health and short/long term quality of life. With the surge in evidence-based research in complementary and alternative medicine, modern medicine is turning to mind-body therapies, approaches and techniques that focus on the mind-body connection, as a way to help individuals reduce stress, improve health, and create a balanced lifestyle.
In this presentation, individuals will learn about stress, its effect on health, and how to manage it effectively. Principles and practices in mind-body therapies for reducing stress and improving health will be taught.
This topic is offered as a 60 and 90 minute presentation.
The Family's Mission Statement: Creating Strong, Healthy and Happy Families
Most people want to have a strong, healthy and loving family. They want to live the values that are important to them and experience worth and happiness as individual members and experience mutual respect, meaning and happiness as a family. How do families make that happen? It begins with parents and children getting clear on their family values and overall vision of the family, and determining what brings worth, meaning and happiness to the individuals and the family as a whole. Steven Covey coined this concept the "family mission statement", and believed that in order for families to stay in tack, to live honestly, respectfully, healthy and happily, the family needed to consciously define their values and vision. The family mission statement is "the driver" in a family system, and directs the day-to-day home life and activities as well as the long term educational, recreational, social, spiritual and occupational pursuits. In this seminar the foundations, components and value of a family mission statement will be covered as well as the steps to developing a family mission statement.
This is offered as a 90 minute or full day workshop.
Our Bodies, Our Selves: A Seminar for Women
Women in our Western Society are bombarded daily with messages of "what" are bodies "should" look like in order to be attractive, and "how" we "should" look in order to be appealing. These societal and cultural messages can affect a woman's self-concept, body image and overall self- image in a negative way. Often women adapt to unhealthy behaviors in order to create a particular body type with the hope of being desirable and gaining acceptance from others. Women need to reclaim and reconnect to their bodies in a healthy way. A healthy relationship with one's body, promotes healthy self-care behaviors which ultimately contribute to an increase in self-esteem.
With the increase in mind-body research in the past two decades, it has become evident that we have a wealth of inner resources available for enhancing our health and promoting healing. Yet in order to access our "inner healing resources and wisdom", we need to be present with our bodies. With mind-body practices and expert direction, we can learn to open the door to our inner wisdom.
In this seminar the focus on developing a healthy relationship with your body and learning ways to access inner wisdom for health and healing will be taught.
This seminar is a full day.
